Pam (Brown) Parks

Pamela Sue Parks was born on November 20, 1958, at a doctor’s office in Wellston Ohio, to Jim and Mary Brown. She was the first born child of 3 and the only daughter.

Pam graduated from Teays Valley High School in Asheville, Ohio in 1976. She started working at Woolco Department Store where she met Tony Parks that same year and they began dating. Tony and Pam married in July 1978 and moved to Fairborn, Ohio while Tony was in the Air Force.

Pam dreamt of being a mother but struggled for many years to get pregnant and was even told she wouldn’t be able to have children. In 1986, after many times trying, she gave birth to their only child; a son named Ryan.

After they moved to Columbus, Pam spent the next 18 years in child care, touching countless lives along the way. She was heavily involved in her church where she met the people she called lifelong friends. Pam LOVED Jesus, the Ohio State Buckeyes, crafting, and arranging flowers both for gifts and also for loved ones’ special events

In November 2004, Pam was diagnosed with stage 4B endometrial cancer that had also spread to her liver and lungs. She was told she only had 3-6 months left to live. She was very strong-willed and fought fiercely; beating the odds and the cancer. In 2005, cancer returned and was in Pam’s brain. With the same faith and resolve she’s always had, she fought and beat that cancer too. She was declared cancer free in 2008 and lived the rest of her life as a 2-time world champ of overcoming cancer.

Pam is survived by her husband, Tony, son and daughter-in-law Ryan and Jessie Parks, her mother, Mary Brown, brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Shiela Brown and Bob and Becky Brown, her mother and father-in-law; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, and uncles.

She is preceded in death by her father, James H. Brown, her Granny and Poppy, and her beloved dog Josie.

Pam is, and will always be, extremely missed by dozens of family members, friends, and anyone who spent time with her in conversation.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, and friend.
