Patricia A Pontious, 84, of Circleville, passed away March 19, 2013, at Berger Hospital with her family by her side. She was born May 25, 1928 in Ross County, the daughter of the late Harrison and Ursula Wolfe. She graduated from Pickaway Township High School in 1946 as Salutatorian of her class. Pat retired from Circleville City Schools on April 14, 2000 at the age of 72 after more than 26 years of service. She retired as Food Service Supervisor but had served in other capacities, as well. She had also spent several years at Buckeye Home Health agency. In addition to her professional life, Pat also volunteered for the local EMS squad for several years and was a certified EMT-A.
She was a long-time member of Community United Methodist Church of Circleville where she taught Sunday School and was a regular volunteer, in more recent years helping with the Prayer Warriors outreach to prison inmates. Her greatest joy, however, was family. There was never a doubt about her love for each and every member of her immediate and extended family. Once children came along, she and several other close friends founded the Child Advancement Club which has remained active until recent years. Another frequent joy was playing euchre with friends. Pat is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 45 years, Donald Wood; two brothers, Theodore ‘Ted’ Wolfe and Roy ‘Mac’ Wolfe; grandson, Samuel Preston. Surviving are her brother Edward ‘Ned’ (Joan) Wolfe, Chillicothe; brother-in-law Bob (Bonnie), Lancaster; sister-in-law, Rose Wolfe of Circleville; daughter, Marcia of Circleville; sons Bruce (Denise), Fayetteville, AR; Eric (Cinda) of Circleville; Tim (Lokie), Pataskala; grandchildren Brandon, Columbus; Brittany (Matt) Hogue, Grove City; Ryan, Galloway; Jason Van Gundy, Mesa ,AZ; Sabrina, Reynoldsburg; Mariah, Canton; great grandchildren Phillip, Pataskala; Rico, Reynoldsburg; many nieces and nephews and special friend Sue McGuire. A celebration of Pat’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Community United Methodist Church, 120 Pickaway St, with The Rev Barry Burns officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Cemetery.
