Patricia Wellman

Patricia E. Wellman, 79, died Sunday, November 3, 2013 at home. She was born in Fargo, North Dakota on August 8, 1934 to Charles and Susan (Haney) Jones. She graduated from Helena High School in 1952 and Carroll College in Helena, Montana in 1955 and began work as a registered nurse. It was at this time she met Charles E. Wellman who became her husband in 1957 and they moved to Ohio. They were married 54 years at the time of his death in January 2012. Pat and Chuck moved to Circleville in 1959 and began a life of service in that community. Pat worked in labor and delivery at Berger hospital for 17 years and then was Director of Nursing at Brown Memorial Nursing Home for 6 ½ years. In addition to being a registered nurse, she became a licensed funeral director in 1987. Pat along with her husband Chuck was a founding member of the local camp of Gideons International in which she remained active until Chuck’s death. She was a member of Circleville Church of the Nazarene and former member of Emmett Chapel UMC. She was a member of the local Nurse’s Association and AFS. She and her husband were awarded honorary alumni status at Circleville Bible College (now Ohio Christian University). She spent time on the mission field in Kenya, Columbia and India. Pat’s gift was of hospitality and helps. It was a normal circumstance that someone would be staying for a time in her home or that she was gone for the day caring for others. Holidays were never just for family. She enjoyed hosting events for her beloved church family, Gideon camp and others. She was known for her cream puffs. In addition to her parents and her husband, Pat was preceded in death by her brothers Wayne and Don and her sisters Dorothy and Eleanor, nephew David and niece Judy. She is survived by her sister, Connie Shindoll of Townsend, Montana, and her children: Cathy (Mark) Leatherwood, Chuck (Cathy), Chris (Max) Kacan, Cindy (Don) Wildermuth, and Craig (Kim), grandchildren, Charlie (Erin), Chris (Brittany) and Caleb (Chrissy) Wellman, Claire, Abby, and Adrien Leatherwood, Elena, Ben, Elise and Joel Kacan, Zach, Josh, Rachel and Hannah Wildermuth and Cierra, Celeste and Cayli Wellman; great-grand children, Emma, Jackson, Olivia and Robby; sisters-in-law, Betty Jones, Margie (Jim) Kuebler, Carolyn (Jack) Pigman and Janet (Tim) Miller; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday Nov. 9, 2013 at the Circleville Nazarene Church. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-7 p.m. Friday at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, P.O.
