Peggy Virginia (Davis) Swank, 89, of Circleville passed away on June 13, 2023. She was a graduate of Ohio University with a degree in Education and a Master degree in Business Administration. She was born February 18, 1934 in Circleville, Ohio to Rev. Lloyd and Bessie (George) Davis. She married her high school sweetheart Merle Swank in Maysville, Kentucky and was married for 73 years before his passing. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Merle; son Stephen Swank; daughter Rochelle “Shelly” Peters and her sisters Cleo Elizabeth (Ron) Melvin and Rosemary (James) Crabtree. Peggy is survived by her daughter Roxanne Carter of Hilton Head, South Carolina; granddaughters McKenzie (Chris) Cameron, Stacy (Philip) Detty; great granddaughters Mikayla Detty, Brianna Detty and Emma Rose Detty and by great, great granddaughter Emberly Detty. Peggy taught as a substitute teacher for 15 years for Logan Elm and Circleville School System, two summers of Head Start and held a Real Estate license for 50 years along with her husband at Merle Swank Realty. For thirty two years she owned and operated Peggy’s Antiques and Interior Design. Peggy, along with her husband was active in Foreign Missions for seven years. They served three trips to Papa New Guinea, while there they built a large Church and a school for Missionary children. They also served two trips to Barbados in the West Indies, Trinidad, Dominica, South Africa and an Indian Reservation near Cash, Oklahoma. They helped rebuild and paid for the renovation of two Churches in Dominica in memory of Peggy’s dad, Rev. Lloyd E. Davis. Peggy served one term on the State Real Estate Board and was named Associate of the Year. She also served on the Church Board and Missionary President for nine years. She taught Sunday school for many years. Peggy was a member of Garden Clubs and American Association of University Women for many years. A Celebration of Life will be held at Crossroads Church on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Dan Tipton and Dr. David Lattimer officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery.
