Phyllis Meena

Phyllis M. Meena, age 84, died Tuesday afternoon Feb. 10, 2015, in Columbus Ohio. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Nick, and her parents, Allister and Margaret Fraser.
She is survived by sons Jay (Donna), Tom (Elysa) and Jeff (Leslie); granddaughters Heather,
Allison, Jessica, Gabrielle and Emily; sister Jeanne Fraser, brother Allister Fraser, and sister
Audrey (Philip) Eskes; and many other beloved extended family members.
Phyllis was born April 7, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York, where she was raised. She worked in
both N ew York and Indiana. Phyllis and Nick, her husband of more than 61 years, raised their
three sons in Marion, Indiana, and in Circleville, Ohio, before living in retirement in Bluffton,
South Carolina unti12014 when they returned to Ohio.
Phyllis was a very kind, generous, and loving person. She had a radiant smile, a joyful
demeanor, and a deep faith in her Lord Jesus that was evident in all areas of her life, particularly
in how she treated others. She loved music, singing in a church choir at a young age and later
being part of a trio as a young adult that sang in and around New York City. Her many skills,
interests, and activities, included, at various times in her life, counseling those in need, many
kinds of art including painting, dancing, working with and advocating for children and troubled
teens, and working for racial reconciliation.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday February 16th, 2015 at Our Mother of
Sorrows Chapel in St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High St, Lockbourne, OH (Cemetery is S of
Columbus on the east side of St Rt #23 about 3 miles S ofI-270). All are welcome. Friends may
call from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday February 15th at Wellman Funeral Home at 1455 N Court
St in Circleville, Ohio. Contributions can be made in Phyllis' honor to "Grace Community
Church" at 450 Spanish Wells Rd., Hilton Head, SC 29926"; or "Hospice of the Lowcountry" at
