Ray Edwin Lowther, 83, of Rapid City, SD, died Thursday September 13, 2007 at his residence. He was born on September 12, 1924 in Duncan Falls, OH, the son of Homer and Roxie (Coplin) Lowther. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in Parkersburg, WV in 1942. He was drafted into the US Army Air Corps and served during WWII. After his military service, Ray went to work for various oil and gas drilling companies and eventually went to work for Columbia Gas of Ohio. He worked for Columbis Gas for 41 years and retired in 1989. Ray moved to Rapid City in July of 2004. Ray was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 8657 Laurelville and his passion was horses. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; Nellie F. Brunner, brother; Ralph and son; Jimmy. Funeral services will be held11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Burial will be in the Washington Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
