Richard Cook

Richard Cook, 96, of Circleville went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 2, 2025. He was born on October 14, 1928 in Marysville, Ohio to William C. and Mary Ellen (Smith) Cook. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Vera Cook; brothers Delmar (Loretta) Cook, Merle Cook, Lutrelle Cook and Earl Cook and by sisters Thelma Foust, Lillie Cook and Elizabeth Bradley. He is survived by his wife Nancy A. (Trego) Cook; children Rebecca (Charles) Worthington of Circleville, Rodney (Sandra) Cook of Heath and Billy Cook; grandchildren Brandi Binegar and Jennifer Cook. He was a member of Circleville First Baptist Church. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1967 as a MSGT with over 20 years of dedicated service which included tours of duty in the Hawaiian Islands, Japan and 18 months in Korea during the Korean War. While he was in the service he received the following awards:

Good Conduct Medal with 4 Bronze Loops

World War II victory Medal

National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star

Korean Service Medal with 1 Silver Service Star and 1 Bronze Service Star

Air Force Longevity Service Award with 4 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters

Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation

United Nations Service Medal

He retired for DuPont in 1987 with over 18 years of service. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7944. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville with burial to follow in Forest Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 11-1.
