Richard J. England, 88, of Circleville passed away April 21, 2015 at Pickaway Manor. Richard was born in Springfield, Illinois on August 5, 1926 to James and Hazel (Jay) England. He lived in Montana for several years in his youth before moving to the Panama Canal Zone in 1942. He graduated from Balboa High School in Panama and then served in the U.S. Navy for two years as a radio man. Richard graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois in 1951 with a B.S. degree in Chemistry and married the love of his life, Elsie Margaret Landes who survives. He served in the Air Force ROTC during college and was then stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton before starting a career with Dupont in 1953. After several transfers Richard finally settled in Circleville in 1959 and retired from Dupont in 1987 after a 34 year career as a research chemist. He is a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Richard spent his retirement enjoying his many hobbies, such as golfing, model trains, ham radio, music and traveling. He especially enjoyed the many family activities with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a dedicated and kind family man and will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers; Robert and James. Richard is survived by his wife of 64 years; Elsie Margaret (Landes) England, sons Mark and James (Janis) England, daughter Janet (Ron) Hall, grandchildren; Jon and David England, Brandon Watts, Elisha Watts and Dylan Hall and by numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial in his honor will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 134 West Mound Street on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a brief burial ceremony at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Circleville. A luncheon will then be held in the church basement at noon to receive friends and guests. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (at the above address), Circleville Ohio. The family wishes to thank all the staff from Berger Health Systems, Pickaway Manor and Heartland Hospice for their care and support during his illness.
