Richard C. Huggins, age 88, passed away peacefully on January 28th at Riverside Hospital. Richard was preceded in death by his first wife of nearly 35 years, Mae Martin Huggins, son Rock Allen Huggins, and parents Dwight Allen Huggins and Alma Kalklosch Huggins of Laurelville, older brother Robert Leo Huggins of Columbus, and step grandson Austin Dingus of Rockbridge. Richard is survived by his wife Abby Rife Huggins, daughter RaMae Lynn Gibbs of Circleville, granddaughter Kelli Gibbs of Fairview Park, grandson Richard Albert (Brittany) Huggins of New Franklin, Jordan (Kurt) Young of Circleville, Catie (Ian) Dunn of Uniontown, Cayla Huggins of Uniontown, and Magdalene (Bill) Downing of Grove City. Great grandchildren Kennedy, Felix, Finnley, Hazel, Holden, Eloise, Carter, Gwynneth, Crosby, Trenton, Colton, Weston, Brantley, Presley, and Maeve. His younger brother Stanley (Anne and Becker) Huggins of Laurelville. Stepson Aaron Sowers (Stacy Cowdery), stepdaughter Jillian Dingus, and step grandchildren Sidney, Shawn, Audrey, Taylor, and Brooke.
Richard owned and operated Northland Farm and Outdoor Power Equipment Company of Laurelville and Circleville for many years. Richard was active in community affairs being a member of the former Circleville Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Circleville-Pickaway County Chamber of Commerce, member and past President of the Ohio Farm and Outdoor Power Equipment Association, served as a Pickaway County Commissioner and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Berger Health System. Richard was a member of the Logan Elm Masonic Lodge, the Circleville Elks Lodge #77, and a life member of Circleville Amvets Post No. 2256.
Richard served in the United States Army’s 77th Special Forces Group (Airborne) attaining the rank of Sgt.
Richard wished to be cremated and will be buried at Forest Cemetery in Circleville at a later date with a private service for immediate family members. There will be no calling hours.
