Robert E. Callihan, 75, of Stoutsville, passed away at Riverside Hospital, Saturday August 31, 2013. He was born on June 27, 1938 in Circleville, the son of Robert O. and Marietta (Wilson) Callihan. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Kevin P. Callihan. He graduated from Circleville High School in 1956. He worked over 30 years for the Van Camp Paving Company and recently worked as an inspector for the City of Circleville. He was a former member of the U.S. Trotting Association and International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18. He enjoyed Bingo, Golf and Horse Racing. He was an avid Ohio State Fan and enjoyed his grandchildren’s sporting events. He never knew a stranger and he was liked by all who met him. He will be truly missed by many friends and his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Etta: children, Bobbie Lynn McConnaughey (Scott Holbrook) Robert Tyler (Karen) Callihan, Vicki Whitt and Amy McNeal; grandchildren, Tyson (Suzanne) McConnaughey, Heather (Shawn) Hegarty, Shaun (Jenni) McConnaughey, Erica and Evan Callihan, Zach (Kaley) Callihan, Sarah Callihan and Mike Whitt; 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn (Allen) Harper, Sharma (Jay) Hunter and Debbie (Phil) Stevens; in laws, Esther (John) Williams, Virgil Kuhn (June) and Marie Kuhn; several nieces and nephews, and many other family members and special friends. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville with Pastor Ervin Kirk officiating. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. Family and friends may call Wednesday September 4, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, family requested memorial contributions be made to Ted Lewis Park Fund, 104 E.
