Robert Carpenter, 97, of Circleville passed away on March 21, 2016. He was born on June 27, 1918 in Circleville to Isaac and Fannie (Palm) Carpenter. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving from 1941-1945. He was a POW captured on February 16, 1943 in Africa, flown to Italy then transferred to Germany, Stalag 2B and was released on April 12, 1945. He attended Calvary United Methodist Church, was a member of Masonic Lodge #23 F&AM, American Legion and Soldiers Monumental Association. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife; Thelma (Huffer) Carpenter, siblings; Clarence, Frank, Harry, Richard, Donald, Lawrence and Ralph Carpenter, Catherine and Lillian Stevens and Helen Thomas. Robert is survived by his daughter; Susan (Dean) Glitt, grandchildren; Rob (Deanna) Reeser, Kristen (David) England, great grandchildren; Tyler, Jenna, Sydney, Brant and Asher, many nieces and nephews and by special friends; Betty Burgoon and Howard Snook. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville with Pastor Greg Swann officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery with full military honors bestowed at the grave.
