Robert (Bob) D. Valentine, 97, went to be with the Lord at 3:16 am on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He lived life to the fullest touching many lives with a simple smile and sense of humor no matter where he was and devoted himself to serving others in Christ Jesus. Bob was born in Greentown, Ohio on August 31, 1926 to Loring and Gladys (Martin) Valentine. He married the love of his life, Carolyn (Wright) Valentine on June 20, 1948, who preceded him in death on September 17, 2009. He was a lifetime resident of Circleville and graduated from Circleville High School in 1944. He delivered milk for the Blue Ribbon Dairy owned by his family. After high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944-1946. He was an active member of Emmett Chapel. Bob enjoyed serving as the Pickaway Township clerk for 16 years. After retiring from 28 years at DuPont, Bob enjoyed supporting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at all their activities, taking daily walks, traveling, golfing, eating at Captain D's with his cousins, tackling jigsaw puzzles, and playing sudoku as well as visiting with his family and friends, especially on the front porch of his condo. He was committed to volunteering at Berger Hospital every Tuesday for nearly three decades. He enjoyed singing in many concerts with the Circleville Men's Barbershop Chorus and attending Saturday morning Men’s Group at Community United Methodist Church. Being inducted into the Circleville High School Hall of Fame in 1997, participating in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C., and being the Grand Marshall in the Memorial Day parade were special memories for him. With all he experienced in his 97 years, Bob would have considered his greatest accomplishment to be the love and legacy of his family.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn (Wright) Valentine; parents, Loring and Gladys (Martin) Valentine; brother, Don Valentine; sister-in-law, Dona Lee Valentine; brother-in-law, Gene Wright; and sister-in-law, Nancy Wright. He is survived by his three daughters, Cindy (Don) Bucher, Joyce (Alan) Sedlak, and Kathy (Don) Davis; grandchildren, Jeremy Bucher, Jill (Justin) Folk, Kristen (Jamie) King, Dara Davis, and Andy (fiancée, Hailey) Sedlak; and great-grandchildren, Kailen, Eliana, and Matias King, Jonah, Josephine, and Jayla Folk, and Molly and Maggie Miller; half-sister, Dee Rogols; and many nieces and nephews.
