Ron Hood, 55, of Circleville passed away on April 19, 2025. He was born on June 2, 1969 in Warren, Ohio to Edward and Ruth (Redmond) Hood. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Ronald II and the mother of his children Michal. Ron is survived by his children Ellah, Edward, Judah, Quinne and Wesley and by siblings Charles (Michele) Hood, Michael Hood and Cherish Hood. A graduate of Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business, Ron earned his bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1991, with dual majors in marketing and economics. Ron was an executive director for National Right to Work Committee. Ron was a longtime Republican lawmaker known for his staunch conservative stances and multiple terms in the state legislature. He served in the Ohio House of Representatives across several districts during his political career, including the 57th, 78th, and 91st districts. He was first elected to the House in 1994 after a narrow loss in his initial bid in 1992. He went on to serve multiple terms, winning re-election in a number of competitive races. Throughout his time in office he served on key committees, including the House Commerce and Labor Committee and the House Criminal Justice Committee. He also sponsored the “heartbeat bill” in 2018. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Heritage Nazarene Church with Pastor Bill Hines officiating. Visitation will be on Monday at the church from 2-6 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Reber Hill Cemetery.
