What a blessing Rosemary Hildenbrand Ankrom was to all she met during her 91 years on earth. She was born on September 1, 1925 in Pickaway Township to Jesse and Relis (Merriman) Hildenbrand and passed away in her home on November 10, 2016. She was preceded in death by brothers William and Richard Hildenbrand.
She made Ralph Ankrom the luckiest man in this town, 67 years ago when they wed on April 27, 1949.
She was proud of her four children, Joyce Lutz, Patty (Dave) Truex, John (Teresa) Ankrom and Betsy (Rich) Richards, who strive to live their lives like she did with kindness and grace.
Her eleven grandchildren, Jesse Lutz, Jada Truex, Andy Lutz (Stevie Chaddock), Sean (Jolie) Ankrom, Mitch (Maria) Truex, Katy (Chris) Modica, Mason Richards (Katherine Crist), Jill Truex, Ben (Keira) Ankrom, Maria Richards, and Julie Richards, always left her house well-loved and well fed. She faithfully followed and supported them in their activities; they were her pride and joy.
No one brought a spark to her eye like her great grandchildren Bryton Danner, Joseph Truex, and Rosie and Rhys Ankrom with 3 more on the way in 2017.
She loved her Friday scrabble and card games with her beloved sister June McAfee and talking on the phone to her brother Eddie (Marge) Andrews and sister-in-laws Bonnie Hildenbrand and Pat Hildenbrand. She is also survived by cherished nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Pickaway Township High School as the Class of 1943’s valedictorian. A lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church, she was a faithful and loving servant of God. She operated her own beauty salon and later worked as a business partner and meticulous bookkeeper for family businesses, cared for her four children, served as a 4-H advisor, and made the only food her husband would eat. She loved to care for and feed her family, especially during the Wednesday family lunches often featuring chicken and noodles and apple pie. She had an unmatched green thumb and could make any piece of cloth look better.
She firmly believed that everything should be done in moderation with the exception of the love she gave her family. Ralph always says that she never wanted anything more than what we had at the moment. She leaves a huge hole in all of our hearts, but she left us a strong Rosemary-made family.
Calling hours will be held at Wellman’s Funeral Home, Circleville on Tuesday, November 15th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. Her funeral service will be Wednesday, November 16th at 11:00 am at Salem United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Wednesday lunch for the family will follow at the church.
