Ruth E. Notestone, 95, of Laurelville, died November 30, 2010 at Berger Hospital. She was born March 31, 1915 in Hocking County, the daughter of Judson and Lucile (Hill) Johnson. She was a member of Laurel Hills United Methodist Church, where she taught childrens Sunday School for 35 years and held various offices in the church, was president of the church Friendship Circle for many years and was a member of the Laurelville Senior Center. She was retired from teaching at South Bloomingville, Laurelville and Saltcreek schools with 42 years of service and belonged to the Hocking County Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oliver W. “Jack” Notestone; brothers and sisters, Ralph Johnson, Ruby Allard, Helen Pearson, Daniel Johnson, Freda Watters, Judson “Jr. Johnson, Phyllis Johnson and Darrell Johnson. She is survived by her sisters and brother, Evelyn Notestone of Lancaster, Ronald Bruce Johnson of South Bloomingville and Maxine Van Curen of Lancaster and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to her caregivers, Rita Hupp, Kelly Hettinger, Lila Hettinger, Doris Fetherolf and Berger Hospital and Staff. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday December 3, 2010 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville. Burial will be in Green Summit Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
