Sara Mae “Sally” (Thompson) Disbennett, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 21, 2014, with family by her side. Sally was born on June 5, 1927, in Laurelville, Ohio, to Donald E. and Bessie M. (Ebert) Thompson. Graduated in 1945 as valedictorian of her Laurelville-Perry High School class. Preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, sisters, Bernice Woodward, Alice Jones, Helen Ruth Burns, and Edith Shonk, brothers, Charles Thompson, George “Judd” Thompson, Robert Thompson, and John “Bill” Thompson, and grandson, Matthew Downey.
Survived by her husband of 66 years, Lowell E. Disbennett, daughter, Susan (David) Downey, son, Joe Disbennett, grandson, Michael (Carrie) Downey, granddaughter, Emily (Michael) Sabula, great-grandson, Seth Sabula, great-granddaughter, Cora Downey, sisters, Jean Spung, Arla Lines, and Betty Sakas, brother Jack (Dollie) Thompson, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice; or do a random act of kindness in Sally’s memory. Visitation: Tuesday, November 25, at 12:00 PM, followed by Memorial Service at 1:00 PM, Wellman Funeral Home, 16451 St.Rt. 56 East, Laurelville, OH 43135. Burial: Green Summit Cemetery.
