Sarah Markel

Sarah Jane Markel, 81, of Adelphi, is together again with her husband, Bill Markel. She was born on March 25, 1936 in Yellowbud, the daughter of Henry Jacob and Ruth Samantha (Gallaugher) Derexson. She attended Kington High School and had worked as a bookkeeper for Dale Riddle Forest Products and Custom Maintenance. She was an EMT for over 20 years and helped start Adelphi EMS. Sarah was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Markel; son, Carl William Markel and siblings Henry, Jr., Carl, Paul, Virginia, Eileen, Gloria and Madeline. She is survived by her children, Barb (Morris) Fetherolf and Dan (Elaine) Markel; grandchildren, Andrew (Shannon) Robinson and great grandchildren, Carter, Nalin and Landon; Nicole (Matt) Estep; step grandchildren, Greg Shanton, Danielle Shanton and their children, Caushen, Cohen and Olivia; step grandchildren, Chloe, Sarah, Timmy, Emily and Heather; brother, Robert James (Jane) Derexson of Yellowbud; very special nephew, John Derexson; special friend, Tina Disbennett; numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends throughout her life. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday December 18, 2017 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville. Burial will be in Green Summit Cemetery.
