Always With Us

Shirley A. Downs, 79, of Laurelville passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2022. Born in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Christine and Thomas Painter. She loved adventure, traveling, family and friends. She met the love of her life while working as a school bus driver for Columbus City Schools where she retired in 2003. They established their home on “The Hill” in 1999 which became a haven for so many who enjoyed their company, the beautiful scenery and home cooking. She sure could make amazing meals out of seemingly nothing.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Phil Downs, children Wayne (Kathy) Morrow, Sherry Cope, Wes (Dawn) Morrow, Dale Orahood, Eddie (Tina) Morrow, Johnny (Amanda) Orahood, Julie Orahood, Amber Orahood, Melissa (Eric) Moser, 20 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Jerry Pauley, Helen Griffith, Eddie Kindler, and Tom Painter.

Shirley was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Circleville where she enjoyed service and great friendship.

We will celebrate her life now and always. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 30th at 1:00pm at the Kingdom Hall located at 23341 SR 104, Circleville, OH 43113. If you are unable to attend in person, you may watch it virtually on Zoom.
