Shirley Palmer, 79, joined hands with the angels on Tuesday, October 7, 2014. Born in Newark, Ohio to John D. Trace and Frances (Clum) Trace, she was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dr. David (Doc) Palmer D.V.M., sisters, Marjorie Geer and Carol Fisher, son; Wm. “Kip” Davis, great grandson; Logan Kip Davis. Shirley was an animal activist against cruelty and neglect to all animals, having worked many hours beside her husband at their Salt Creek Vet. Clinic in Laurelville, Ohio. She housed many stray and neglected cats and dogs. She was a member of The Laurelville Church of God, The Degree of Pocahontas, and The Humane Society of the United States. Shirley is survived by son; Keith (Diane) Wetherill of Sewell, NJ, daughter; Kathleen (Matthew) Moran, of Punta Gorda, FL, stepson; Tim (Pam) Palmer of Bellefontaine, six grandsons, four granddaughters, six great grandsons, four great granddaughters, “special” son, Dave Greenburg of Columbus and many four legged “children.” Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Noon at the Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville.
