Sigle Watson

Sigle F. “Papa Joe” Watson went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 12, 1923 in Ross County, the son of Harrison W. and Marry M. (Fisher) Watson. Sigle was a decorated WWII veteran, serving during the European Theatre and received 2 Bronze stars and many other accommodations. His favorite past time was attending church, playing cards with family and his dogs. He was loved and will be sadly missed by many. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 1 brother and son-in-law, Jerry Hill. He is survived by his wife of 58, years, Grace Margie; 7 children, Mary Anna Hill of Lockbourne, Margie (Robert) Houger and John Watson of North Pole, Alaska, Daniel Watson of Columbus, David (Karen) Watson of Ashville, Mark (Joyce) Watson of Kingston and Creed Watson of Ashville; 2 brothers, Frank E. Watson of GA and Jimmie Lee (Sandy) Watson of CA; 17 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild, many nieces and nephews and many friends and good neighbors. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday April 28, 2010 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Ashville, with Rev. Henry Adams officiating. Burial will be in Reber Hill Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
