Stephen Confare Jr

Stephen “Steve” A. Confare Jr. of Circleville passed away Nov. 28, 2014 after a personal battle with cancer. Circleville has lost a most dedicated veteran, father and local farmer. Steve was very dedicated to his family and his community. He was a member of the Soldiers Monumental Association for many years where he laid US flags on the graves of Circleville veterans and maintained the grave markers for these soldiers. He was a member of the AMVETS, Moose, Eagles, VFW and Knights of Columbus. He was a volunteer for St. Joseph’s Catholic Church serving meals for the needy and was captain of the bingo games held there for many years. Steve served in the US Navy as a fireman during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Columbus, OH where he married Patricia Simpson and began his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia and son Stephen A Confare III. Steve is survived by his daughters, Eileen (Arthur) Kester and Kathleen Confare Lacher; grandchildren, Arthur (Kim) Kester and Colleen (Todd) Liff, great grandchildren, Andrew and Nathan Kester, Kaeleen and Zachary Casto, great great granddaughter, Madeleen Casto, sisters, Beverly and Joyce and brother, Larry. Steve worked for 30 plus years at North American Aviation, later known as Rockwell International, as a machinist. While there Steve worked on the Apollo space project making heat tiles for the spacecraft used in the historic moon mission. He retired early at the age of 55 when he started his passion for farming. In the beginning he raised Registered Black Angus cows along with a few hogs. Soon he gave up livestock in favor of raising crops on his farm just outside Circleville. He was known as a pleasant honest fellow. He will be missed by all. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Ted Machnik officiating.
