Stephen (Steve) Baird Johnson, 69, from Williamsport, Ohio passed away on June 11, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis “Alfred” and his mother, Sylvia (Williams) Johnson.
Steve leaves a legacy through his daughters; Greta Bowman (husband Eric and daughter Faith), Sarah Anne Johnson (fiancé Coulton West) and Emma Lynne Johnson (Sarah and Emma’s mother Teresa McKie). He is also lovingly survived by his best friend and fiancée, Elizabeth Holden.
After graduating Westfall High School in 1973 he attended The Ohio State University where he graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences. While attending Ohio State, he was an award-winning member of the Livestock Judging Team and a member of the Saddle & Sirloin Club, served as a WRFD farm radio host and a proud brother of the Alpha Zeta Fraternity.
Steve was a fifth generation cattleman, entrepreneur and agriculturalist. From a very young age he enjoyed showing Quarter Horses and Limousin cattle, judging Quarter Horse shows, mentoring junior and youth members in 4-H, raising his daughters in 4-H and FFA, traveling across the country to show Limousin cattle with his daughters, mountain biking, riding his cutting horse and being known as the “Voice of the Congress,” as one of the All American Quarter Horse Congress announcers.
Forever an optimist, he lit up every room with his smile and put others at ease with his gentle demeanor. Steve lead by example with his kindness and unwavering work ethic. His three daughters, Greta, Sarah and Emma and granddaughter Faith were the light of his life.
As a dedicated member of the Circleville Presbyterian Church, a time of fellowship to honor his life will be held there on Friday June 21st, 2024 from 5:30pm-8pm.
A joint celebration of life service for Steve and his mother Sylvia, will be held Saturday June 22nd, 2024 at 11am also at the Circleville Presbyterian Church. The family welcomes you to arrive an hour prior to the service to visit with family.
To continue Steve’s legacy and recognize his passions in life, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Circleville Presbyterian Church, Bailey’s Mountain Bike Trail System, the North American Junior Limousin Association or the National Cutting Horse Association.
