Vernie Stahr, 97, of Laurelville, Ohio passed away on January 5, 2014. He was born on September 5, 1916 in Hocking County to Lewis and Clara (Friend) Stahr. He was a member of South Perry United Methodist Church, Gideons and Laurel Valley Grange. He served on Hocking County Fair Board, Hocking County Board of Education, Hocking County Soil and Water. He was one of the first board members of Pickaway-Ross Vocational School. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Huston) Stahr, sisters, Millie Morris, Lodema Vorhees, Bessie Boling and by one brother, Ferd Stahr. Mr. Stahr is survived by his daughter, Margaret (Harold) Karr of Laurelville, sons, Roy (Narcie) and Clayton (Beverly) Stahr both of Laurelville, seven grandchildren, Suellen (Craig) Riddle, Jeff (Deanna) Karr, Pam (Gary) Puckett, Shelah, Brian, Phillip (Chris) and Todd (Melissa) Stahr, 13 great grandchildren, Bree Riddle, Bryce (Miles) Wright, Lyenya (Jason) Conrad, Meashia, Caleb, Madison, Shae, Cody and Sharayah Stahr, Treaver and Shelby Karr, Natasha (Ben) Neal, Mary Margaret Puckett and Naomi and Norah Stahr, five great great grandchildren, Brynn and Carley Snavely, Harper Wright,Lenyx Conrad and Olivia Neal. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at South Perry United Methodist Church with Pastor Alethea Botts officiating. Burial to follow in Olive Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 3-8 p.m. at Wellman Funeral Home in Laurelville. Memorial contributions are suggested to Gideons.
