Violet Gierhart

Violet Mae Gierhart, 74, of South Bloomingville, went home to be with the Lord October 6, 2009 at OSU Hospital. She was born June 22, 1935 in Hocking County, the daughter of Harley and Hazel (Kennedy) Vandagriff. She was a homemaker and a member of Saltcreek Valley Community Church for 18 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell “popeye”Gierhart; 3 brothers, Norman, Russell and Carl and 1 sister, Viola Wagner. She is survived by 2 sons, Ralph Gierhart of Logan and Michael (Jayne) Gierhart of Laurelville; 3 daughters, Beverly Thurston of South Bloomingville, Rosemary (Randy) Thurston of Creola and Sherry (Bruce) Hartley of Stoutsville; 1 sister, Leola (William) Corne of Columbus; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday October 10, 2009 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville with Pastor James Vandagriff officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
