Violet V. Thompson, 98, of Laurelville passed away on December 8, 2024. She was born on September 15, 1926 in Hocking County to Theodore and Mildred Poling. She was a long-time member of the Laurel Hills United Methodist Church an dedicated her time to serving as the church financial secretary from April 1958 to December 2016. She worked at Laurelville Elementary and the Logan Elm School District as a cook. She enjoyed preparing delicious meals, tending to her flowers and taking drives to see spring blooms and fall foliage on the ridge. She is proceeded in death by her husband Norman, whom she was married to for 60 years, son David R. Thompson and siblings Amy Karr, Mona Hettinger, Donna Swackhammer, Norman, Bernard, Gerry, Garry, Clyde and Lloyd Poling. She is survived by her son Terry (Karen) of Circleville, granddaughter Kimberly of Tempe, Arizona, grandson Travis (Jessica), great-grandchildren Treyton and Pia of Laurelville, granddaughter Kelly (Steve Kwasny) of Scottsdale, Arizona and siblings Wanda Johnson, Delbert (Arlene) Poling, Jerald “Pete” (Bobbie) Poling, Janet Amerine along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville with burial to follow in Green Summit Cemetery. Visitation will be held in Laurelville on Wednesday from 10-12. A fellowship reception will reside at Laurel Hills Methodist Church following the graveside services.
