Wanda L. DeLong, 81, of Laurelville, died April 16, 2015 in Huntington, WV. She was born on March 13, 1934 in Ross County, the daughter of Ollen and Opal (Dawson) Swepston. She was a member of Laurel Hills United Methodist Church, 1952 graduate of Centralia High School and member of OES, Kingston. Family was the most important aspect of Wanda’s life. She loved to host family dinners and every summer she spent countless days helping the kids in their gardens, teaching the grandchildren to cook and can vegetables and attending their academic and sporting events. Wanda also enjoyed going with her family on camping trips and sitting around the campfire chatting with her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Wayne Swepston. She is survived by her husband, Dallas W. DeLong; children, Brenda (Bill) Phillips, Linda (George Larry) Lovensheimer, Dianne (Bill) Wetzel, Nelson (Toni Holdcroft) DeLong and Andrew (Monica) DeLong; 7 grandchildren, Ben (Wendy Faukner) Congrove, Nicholas (Elizabeth) Phillips, Justin (Rhonda) DeLong, Greg Lovensheimer, Jennifer (Nathan) Jenkins, Sarah and Jessica DeLong; 6 great grandchildren, Olivia, Morgan, Madison, Clarabelle, Levi and Maelee; brothers, Lowell (Judy), Malvin, Robert (Betsy) and Ollen (Linda) Swepston; sister-in-law, Rose Gray; many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday April 20, 2015 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville with Pastor Brian Davis officiating. Burial will be in Green Summit Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with OES Service at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Laurelville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 51, Laurelville, OH 43135.
