Wilbur H. Greenlee, 89, of Circleville, died Aug. 13, 2011 at Pickaway Manor. He was born May 13, 1922 in Pickaway County, the son of Finley and Nellie (Stonerock) Greenlee. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the European Theater as a technician 4th grade in the 5th infantry regiment, 71 division of 3rd. Army which was a mule pack mountain division. He entered combat in France and served in Belgium, Germany and Austria and helped liberate the concentration camps. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European Middle Eastern Victory Medal, 2 Campaign Stars, Bronze Star, French Jubilee of Liberty Medal and Combat Infantry Badge. Following active duty he served as Sergeant First Class in a field artillery Battalion in the Army Reserves with a total of 11 years of service. He was a member of the VFW and Pickaway Senior Citizens and was an avid historian. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Denver and Robert. He is survived by his wife, Frances (Juenger) Greenlee, daughters, Karen (Jim) Hansjergen of Colorado and Sandra (Raymond) Lloyd of South Carolina, brothers, Wayne of Columbus, Clifford and Jerry of Circleville, sisters, Ruth Spaeth of Columbus, Betty Waidelich of Circleville and Helen Diltz of Kingston and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 17, 2011 at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville with Rev. William Hill officiating. Burial will be in Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery with military honors.
