William Large

William M. Large, age 68, went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2014. His parents were the late Harvey & Margaret (Morris) Large of Kingston, Ohio. Bill married his high school sweetheart, Jean (Crow), in 1965. They attended the Grove City United Methodist Church and enjoyed the fellowship of so many friends. They were the proud parents of Kim (Brian) Mego, Sonja (Rob) Reeves, & Ron (Stacie) Large. Grandparents of Nick, Jack, & Nathan Reeves & Kyle Large. Bill’s siblings are Marlin (Carole) Large, Doug (Phyllis) Paxton, Nancy (Harold) Wright, Larry (Kay) Large, Alice (Don) Beavers, Mary (Bill) Moss, the late James & Gerald Large, Linda (Tom) Snyder, & David (Linda) Large. Bill enjoyed working with children through athletics. He coached girls and boys in basketball, baseball, & football. He served a President of the Madison District Athletic Association. He was also a licensed basketball referee. Bill was a dedicated fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. No sport was off limits if the team wore scarlet & gray. Bill & Jean drove their bus, “The Old Man & the Shoe”, to all OSU sports. He eagerly accepted invitations to participate in parades and visit elementary schools to share OSU memorabilia & the excitement of being a Buckeye! After retiring from Lucent Technologies, it was no surprise he would work at the Schottenstein Center at The Ohio State University. What amazing friendships he made there. He also enjoyed golfing and making friends at Foxfire Golf Club. Please join our family in celebrating the life of Bill Large on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Services will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Kingston, Ohio. Bill’s cousin, the Rev. Dr. Paul Large will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pickaway County Special Olympics; 1005 South Pickaway Street, Circleville, Ohio 43113 Bill’s family would like to thank Dr. Peter Kourlas & his staff at Ohio Oncology, the Riverside Hospital Radiation team, & the staff at Ohio Health Hospice. A special thank you to all the churches who had prayer, sent cards, & offered their help. Thank you to strangers who reached out with their faith in our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.
